Democrats’ absence at AIPAC cause for concern

President Trump may be considered America’s most pro-Israel president, but this comes at a time when support for Israel is waning and anti-Semitism is on the rise in the United States, according to U.S. Vice President Mike Pence.

Speaking at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee annual conference on Monday, Pence noted that the Democrat Party is no longer a reliable supporter of Israel and has been “co-opted by people who promote rank anti-Semitic rhetoric.”

“All over the world, anti-Semitism is on the rise — on college campuses, in the marketplace, even in the halls of Congress,” Pence said.

Pence criticized Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., for accusing AIPAC itself of paying lawmakers to support Israel and pledge “allegiance” to the Jewish state. The freshman congresswoman has made several anti-Israel and anti-Semitic remarks as we’ve reported here.

Pence noted and condemned the tepid Democrat response to Omar’s remarks and the Democratic presidential hopefuls who bowed to pressure from anti-Israel groups and refused to appear at this year’s AIPAC gathering.

“It’s astonishing to think that party of Harry Truman, which did so much to create the State of Israel, has been co-opted by people who promote rank anti-Semitic rhetoric and work to undermine the broad American consensus of support for Israel,” he said.

Democrats who are pro-Israel have been intimidated by the likes Reps. Omar, Rashid and AOC. Some see any criticism of their anti-Semitism as Islamophobia. Because these people deal in the realm of emotional accusations and not facts, it often goes like this.

1.     The Jews control the US government (and Hollywood, the Banks, and whatever us suits us)!

2.     You can’t say that, it is anti-Semitic!

3.     You can’t criticize us, it is Islamophobia and anti-women.

American Jews traditionally vote Democrat.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also took aim and Omar and Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib for their support of the Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) movement, though not by name.

Let me go on the record: Anti-Zionism is Anti-Semitism,” he said at AIPAC.

“Criticizing Israel’s policies is an acceptable thing to do in a democracy,” he said. “But criticizing the very right to exist of Israel is not acceptable. Anti-Zionism denies the very legitimacy of the Israeli state and of the Jewish people.”

While over seventy percent of U.S. Jews tend to vote democrat, there is a growing movement, albeit small, of Jews leaving the democratic party over this acceptance of anti-Semitic speech. A Jewish pro-Trump activist has started https://jexodus.org/, combining the words Jewish and Exodus.

We have seen this trend of poisonous progressive anti-Israel speech in the U.K. where overtly anti-Semitic Jeremy Corbyn leads the left wing of the government.
