When Adar Comes In, We Greatly Rejoice!

There is a rabbinic saying (Mishna Ta’anit 4), “When Adar comes in, we greatly rejoice”

משנכנס אדר מרבין בשמחה

Adar is the month of Purim, and is the last biblical month before Nisan, which is the first biblical month which includes Pesach.

While this saying does not have biblical or prophetic authority, it is based on the verse,

Esther 9:22 – וְהַחֹדֶשׁ, אֲשֶׁר נֶהְפַּךְ לָהֶם מִיָּגוֹן לְשִׂמְחָה

“And this is the month that their sorrow was turned to joy.”

The Hebrew language is stronger in this passage, with an amplified meaning, “and this is the month in which everything was flipped to the opposite for them from agonizing sorrow to joy”.

In prayer this morning, I felt there was a special “open window” so to speak, a spiritual heavenly opportunity, for us to step into a new period of joy. So many have been weighed down by all the difficulties this year with Corona, unemployment, quarantines, political problems; and therefore, struggled with sadness, depression, frustration, loneliness, pain, and even despair.

Let’s step into this open opportunity. Let’s drive out all those dark spirits from our hearts and minds. Let’s receive and activate by faith a new spirit of joy, hope, victory, life, vision. We do have “light and joy” in the Holy Spirit. This is part of the message of Purim in the scroll of Esther.
