This is the estimated number of innocent protestors who were slaughtered in the streets of Iran by the Ayatollah’s militias (IRGC and Basij). The protestors were primarily secular, liberal, young, and totally unarmed, the Gen Z of Iran.

The regime cut off all internet connections so that the protestors could not organize demonstrations and so that the slaughter could not be reported to the outside world. In that media blackout, the militias simply turned their rifles on their own people and murdered them wholesale.

For any regime to murder 36,500 of its own citizens in less than one week is unprecedented, unconscionable, and unimaginable.

The general silence of Western media concerning this slaughter is deafening. This silence indicates a lack of awareness of the real threat of radical Islam and a tragic moral confusion among progressives who claim to support human rights. (It also suggests that international protests against Israel over the past two years were driven by anti-Israel prejudice rather than a true concern for innocent suffering.)

In recent weeks, Israel has signed economic and political agreements with moderate Islamic countries such as Azerbaijan, Albania, and Somaliland. Israeli policy embraces moderate Islamic nations that seek peaceful cooperation, distinguishing them from radical Islamic groups that desire Israel’s destruction.

In 1979, radical Shiites under the direction of Ayatollah Khomeini took over Iran. From that time until now, 47 years, the regime has publicly proclaimed “death to America” and “death to Israel.” They destroyed their own nation’s welfare by dedicating massive resources to accomplishing that goal.

There are different aspects to global jihadist strategy.

  1. The murder of the Iranian protestors,

  2. the propaganda directed toward Western progressives,

  3. and the Hamas, Hezbollah, and Houthi invasions of Israel are all the same attack, just different aspects of the same master plan.

The United States is currently deploying major military forces into the Middle East. Most Iranians are hoping for an American and Israeli attack to help bring down the Ayatollah regime.

One challenge to a military attack is finding an alternative government in Iran that can successfully run the country. After so many years of oppression, there is no apparent coalition that could serve as a replacement.

One reason for the current delay in an attack may be behind-the-scenes efforts to consolidate such a replacement plan. Reza Pahlavi, son of the previous Shah, has been working to help organize a transition committee to establish a new government.

One danger in dealing with Hamas, ISIS, Hezbollah, or other jihadist groups is the naïve hope for a peace agreement. The very idea of a peace agreement is a Western concept. Radical Islam seeks to destroy the Western world. Lying and deceiving through false treaties (taqiyya) is considered an acceptable tactic in that worldview.

In these weeks leading up to the holiday of Purim, let us continue praying for true liberation for the beloved people of Iran. Some of the younger generation, seeking a positive identity for Iran’s future, are turning back to the glory days of ancient Persia, with Darius, Cyrus, and yes, even Mordechai and Esther.
