Dedicating a Tabernacle

Tikkun Global

Jerusalem, Israel

“On the first day of the first month you shall set up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.” (Exodus 40:2)

Sunday, March 30 , was the first day of the first Hebrew month, Nisan.

On this day, we dedicated the new Tikkun Global Ministry Center and Prayer Room high above downtown Jerusalem. Like the building of the mishkan (tabernacle) at the end of the book of Exodus; a lot of thought, time, energy, hard work and finances went into the purchase, renovation, and outfitting of our humble “tabernacle” on the seventeeth floor. Builders, architects, and interior designers have the privilege of seeing something “miraculous” on a regular basis: taking a vision, an empty space, and transforming it into a home, a building, a beautiful structure for human beings to live, work, and even worship in. It’s an amazingly satisfying process, a strong foretaste of our call and destiny in God to dwell on this earth, to fill it up, subdue and rule over it (Genesis 1:26-28).

In the room were many of the Tikkun leaders in Israel, along with a few other guests from around the world. Three “fathers” of the Tikkun family (Dan, Asher, and Eitan) shared about the history of the vision and their enduring relationships. The original vision of the “Dual Restoration (Tikkun) of Israel and the Church,” which began 47 years ago in Maryland has migrated to so many places in Israel and around the world. Now, finally, it has reached the “heights” above Jerusalem.

To see the next generation of leaders, among them native Israelis, Russian, American, and Ethiopian immigrants, gave us great hope that the vision is alive and well, even though its founders are now in their 70s. From the “sons and daughters” there were many words of praise and thanksgiving. It was an awe-inspiring, tearfilled event. We worshipped, heard serious and humorous stories from the past, shared a meal together, and prayed.

“And Moses examined all the work and behold, they had done it; just as the Lord had commanded, this they had done. So Moses blessed them.” (Exodus 39:43 NASB95)

“Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.” (Exodus 40:34)

Amen. May it be again in our day!

We couldn’t have done any of this – not for the last 47 years, and not in Jerusalem – without you, our friends and partners. Thank you!

We look forward to many more years of partnership in contending for revival and restoration, from Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria to the ends of the earth – and back again.
