Every Crisis is an Opportunity

I want to share with you a spiritual secret. It is not an easy one; but it is one that can help in the most difficult situations.

Every crisis is an opportunity.

We have had an amazing week here in Israel of unusual pressures: 65 missiles launched against northern Israel from southern Lebanon, 35 missiles launched against southern Israel from Gaza, another smaller missile barrage into the Golan from southern Syria, a terrorist attack in the West Bank killing a mother and two daughters, another terror attack in Petach Tikvah, and another in downtown Tel Aviv, disturbances on the Temple Mount at El Aksa Mosque, demonstrations for and against the government… Whew!

And yet during all this, there are many wonderful and godly things happening. I was thinking about this verse:

הַאֲנִי אַשְׁבִּיר וְלֹא אֹולִיד יֹאמַר יהוה

Isaiah 66:9 “Will I bring to the breach and not cause to give birth?” says the LORD. The word for bring to breach is משביר maSHBiR. The word for crisis in Hebrew is משבר maSHBeR. The root is ש-ב-ר Sh-B-R meaning break. This is also the same root for broken, broken-hearted, breaking bread, provision. Crisis is a moment to give birth. When we feel broken, God can bring a breakthrough. Every crisis is an opportunity to show God’s love. The opportunity is bigger than the corresponding danger. Knowing that, we can stay optimistic and positive in the worst conditions. So, whatever you are going through, keep walking in faith, hope and peace. In Yeshua’s love,
