Twelve times in the book of Deuteronomy is found the exhortation for us to love God (YHVH). In each of these instances loving God is connected to obeying His commandments. The two cannot be separated.
Love without obedience leads to sexual immorality. Keeping commandments without understanding the love that is behind them leads to religious coercion.
This leads us to three questions: What? How? Why?
What is it the Lord wants? To love Him. How are you going to love Him? By keeping His commandments. Why is this what God wants? Because He loves us!
Love and obedience together are the foundation of Judeo/Christian values. Obeying the commandments is not just an Old Testament idea but is consistent with New Covenant faith and is essential to loving both God and others.
I John 5:3 - This is the love of God that we keep His commandments.
There is a "triangle" of love in the biblical worldview:
1. God loves us.
2. We love God.
3. We love one another.
At the heart of this triangle is Yeshua—our perfect example—loving God, obeying Him in all things and sacrificially giving Himself so that we can enter into this love relationship for all eternity.
We were designed to interact with God and one another in meaningful and intimate relationships. WATCH the Global Broadcast today as Asher unwraps this simple truth and applies it to the challenges we face today, including how we deal with the advances of A.I. and social media.
