After a rollercoaster two weeks of ground shaking, history-in-the-making events, a truce was announced and Operation Rising Lion came to an abrupt end.
Israelis, anxious to get back to their daily routines (the country almost entirely closed down for the two-week period) woke up to the crushing news that seven young soldiers were killed in a vehicle explosion in Gaza.
Why does celebration here seem to be laced with mourning?
Please pray:
That the weakened and humiliated Iranian regime will give way to a government shift and turnover, something that can only be achieved from within.
Against a brutal backlash of executions and imprisonments of scapegoat ‘collaborators’ in Iran.
That the end of this phase will lead to a final strategic push in Gaza that will result in complete disarmament of Hamas and release of hostages.
For a shift in cooperation between Arab states in the region with Israel.
That the economy in Israel affected by the war will miraculously bounce back.
That the mourning in Israel will bring people to know Him, and be turned into rejoicing.
On a lighter note, there is always a stream of humor released in Israel during times of intense stress.
Some jokes that were circulated:
"I don’t mind ‘arising like a lion’ but must it be every two hours in the middle of the night? (Referring to nightly air raid sirens)"
"Until now there have been no flights to Iran. Now it’s the only destination we’re flying to!"
"The bad news: the Mossad building was hit. The good news: all its agents were in Iran."
