Pressure from the Enemy

The word for pressure or stress in Hebrew is lakhats – לחץ. It can be used in the physical sense, like “air pressure” or psychological, like emotional or mental stress. It is often translated as “oppression” or “affliction”. In three of the Psalms of Korah (Psalm 42, 43, 44), it is used in a spiritual sense caused by evil.
The psalmist is crying out to God about the difficult state of his soul, and says “Why should I walk about darkly because of the pressure of the enemy?” (Psalm 42:9) What an amazing question! He is walking about in a cauldron-like darkness. The darkness is caused by pressure. The pressure is demonic.
We are all in spiritual warfare. That warfare is felt in our souls and minds. The feeling is stress and pressure. It comes from “the enemy.” We cannot stop the spiritual warfare, but we can be strengthened to stand in the midst of it (II Corinthians 10:3-5; Ephesians 3:15-17; 6:11-17).
It may be over-simplistic to say that when we get through stressful situations, our souls are strengthened and our faith purified. But it’s true. All great men and women of faith go through intense difficulties. And they always come out stronger on the other side.
There has been increasing conflict in Israel: terrorism, rioting, demonstrations, divisions, slander, persecution, financial challenges... Wherever you are, you likely feel the same attacks and the same pressure.
So, dear friends, let’s pray in agreement together to bind those attacks, drive out the feelings of darkness, be freed from ungodly stress, and walk in peace in the inner man.
In Yeshua’s love,
