Repackaging Lies and Truths

So much evil in the world is because people believe in lies. Yeshua calls Satan, our archenemy, “the father of lies.” (Jn 8:44). If the truth is by nature more logical, healthy, and moral, why do people believe in lies? Simply put, they must be convinced and persuaded by repeated false information. If a lie is repeated often enough, it will eventually be believed as truth.

A lie is introduced in one of two ways: either by taking something inherently good and presenting it as bad; or by taking something inherently bad and presenting it as good. In modern media techniques, when an event happens which would be detrimental to a person’s political agenda, he tries to “spin” it to present the situation as if it were actually a victory for him. If his opponent achieves a success, he tries to spin it to take credit for himself.

A lie must either call a good thing bad or call a bad thing good. A lie twists the truth by packaging it and presenting it to be the opposite of what it really is. Even Satan tries to pose as an angel of light (II Corinthians 11:14).

A recent novel portrays a couple, who work as Christian youth camp counselors, as being secret serial murderers. That is to take something good and spin it to be bad. The implication is that Christians are evil.

Terrorists who have been indoctrinated for years into Islamic Jihad are called by the media “troubled youth,” in order to disassociate them from any connection to Islam. Thus, Islamic terrorists are packaged as not Islamic.

Sexual immorality (including adultery, prostitution, homosexuality, lesbianism, and sado-masochism) is presented in the entertainment world as romantic, exciting, artistic, and fun. Wholesome relationships between husbands and wives, parents and children, and normal family life are portrayed as unhealthy, confining, boring, and uncreative.

Don’t let yourself be brainwashed when good is packaged as evil, or evil is packaged as good.
