In a touch of humor, Israel’s Strategic Affairs Ministry played an April Fool’s joke on Roger Waters, lead singer of Pink Floyd and virulent anti-Israel activist, advertising on Twitter that Waters was scheduled to host a concert in Tel Aviv this summer.

Waters, a Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions activist, was furious.

“Pink Floyd legend @rogerwaters is coming to Tel Aviv! Mark your calendars!” the ministry posted on Twitter.

Readers picked up the joke but an irate Waters used caps lock to express his anger on social media.

“HO! F******* HO! EXCEPT THIS IS NO LAUGHING MATTER.”

“THE MURDER OF UNARMED CHILDREN AND PARAMEDICS AND JOURNALISTS AND OTHER PEACEFUL PROTESTERS BY COWARDS IN UNIFORM WITH HIGH POWERED SNIPER RIFLES FROM BEHIND FORTIFIED POSITIONS IS NOT A MATTER FOR JEST. YOU DISGUST ME, AND YOU DISGUST THE WHOLE OF THE REST OF THE CIVILIZED WORLD,” he wrote.

Of course, that is much better description of Hamas, who launches missiles from hospitals and school, tortures reporters and murders dissidents. Followers responded telling the celebrity to lighten up.

“Now that you’re using caps you’ve totally convinced me #pathetic,” one said.

“It was an April fools day joke, A pretty [darn] good one. But all you see & think about is blood & hate. Also, all caps, yeah, that doesn’t sound frantic at all… #Israel,” another wrote.

And another responder had a constructive suggestion: “On the other hand, you could use your talent to promote peace. Why not play there?… at least you’d have an audience that might listen. Aggression begets more aggression – fight it from within.”

Waters has also called on musicians set to appear in the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv next month to boycott that event.
