“THE PROPHET"

We have just entered into the month of Elul, the month of repentance and preparation for the High Holy Days, according to Jewish tradition.  "Slichot" prayers are said every day, asking for forgiveness, while proclaiming the 13 attributes of God's mercy as revealed to Moses in Exodus 34:6-7.  Orthodox Jewish life is built on a rhythm of time connected to the Torah portion, the sabbath, the month, and the season.

This week’s portion contains one of the most significant Messianic prophecies in the Bible, and it is found in the book of Deuteronomy. In response to the children of Israel’s fear before the fire and trembling of Mt Horeb, Moses acted as an intermediary between God and the people. In this context, God made a specific promise in response to the fear of the people to His fire and holiness.

He promised to send another mediator, THE PROPHET, to whom Israel will be required to listen. He will be like Moses, only greater; a man, but also the physical image of the invisible God. This great Prophet was the One who was expected to come. The people in Israel recognized Yeshua as that special Prophet above all prophets (John 1:21, 25; 6:14; Acts 3:22; 7:37).

In today’s Global Broadcast Asher invites us into a deeper understanding of the significance of this Torah portion while encouraging us to bring TRUTH to the ultra-orthodox community. WATCH!
