Ahavat Yeshua

Jerusalem

“V” is a tough cookie. She is a fighter in Israel’s combat border police and carries an automatic rifle with her 24/7 – even during occasional visits to Ahavat Yeshua with her sister. She has been through a rough year, starting with bombs being placed on her base near Ramallah. Thankfully only one went off, and no one was injured. Then fighting between Jewish settlers and Palestinians left dead bodies, and she had to witness the aftermath. This was traumatic and left her suffering nightmares. It got even worse when she was forced to shoot a Palestinian terrorist who drew a weapon on her team. Then she got into a car accident (as a passenger) in which the car was totaled.

This last incident was a breaking point. By the grace of God, she recognized that He was not allowing her to climb the ranks in the army to have a career in combat units; but He was allowing all these difficulties to pull her back to Him. So, when she came to services the week after the car accident, she rededicated her life to the Lord. We sat and prayed with her to recrown Yeshua as Lord of her life and to obey Him rather than try to find her own way.

Yonas, associate pastor of Ahavat Yeshua, and his family have also been through a lot this past year. It started with their daughters being harassed by Arab Muslims that waited at the same bus stop in front of their house. Then they encountered financial struggles including the theft of a car. They put their house up for sale and began looking for a house to rent, but ran into discrimination when they were flat out told they were rejected for who they are (Ethiopian-Israeli Believers). During this time, they found one of their tires punctured…then a few weeks later two tires. On Yonas’ birthday, they woke up to all their tires on both cars purposefully punctured in the sidewall. Suddenly, it was not just discomfort or expense, but true danger to them as a family. The police also told them to be very careful when walking between their house and the parking lot next to their apartment. Miraculously, that same day Yonas found a house for sale in a nice suburban neighborhood of Jerusalem. Within a couple days, they closed on a price that allows them to not increase their monthly payment – for a bigger house with a private yard. God is so GOOD!

Prayer Requests (Please take a moment to pray!)

  • Continuing to Feel the Pinch

More and more congregational members are losing their jobs in this post-war economy. About 5% are newly unemployed with another 5% having lost a significant portion of their income.

  • Pray for financial provision in the near-term for these families.

  • “Deployment”

We are stepping out in faith to fulfill our role as a priestly nation going out to serve and bless the people of other nations!

  • Pray for a trip for three mothers focused on inner-healing
